3 Ways to Be More Efficient at Work

01 August, 2016

We’ve all been there. Two o’clock rolls around and the midday lull hits. You’ve exhausted your allotted bathroom breaks, and lunchtime is long gone. How are you supposed to get through the next three hours? If you’re struggling with productivity and the midday slump at work, let Lulalu inspire you with these great tips and tricks for being more efficient at work, guaranteed to help you defeat distraction!

1. Clean your desk. Oftentimes, our lack of motivation comes from an overwhelming workspace. If your inbox (physical or digital) is overflowing, your desk is piled high with papers and your sticky notes have taken over every available space left, it’s time for a deep clean.

Start by addressing all of your emails or inbox notices. Sort them into folders or piles and deal with them in order of importance. Create a to-do list on your Lulalu Desk & Keyboard List Pad and ditch the excessive sticky notes in order to create a more organized, visually appealing workspace. After all the stacks are gone, decorate your desk with items that will make it feel more personal, such as pictures of your friends, family and pets or trinkets from home. This will help inspire you when you’re feeling stuck.

2. Update your calendar. Oftentimes, inefficiency comes from being disorganized. Don’t miss any important appointments, meetings or phone calls. Update your calendar daily in order to keep track of your day-to-day tasks. Use a secondary calendar on your phone that will send you alerts 15-20 minutes before each scheduled event.

3. Design a creative space. If your job requires creativity, make sure your workspace reflects that. A boring, run-of-the-mill desk, chair and computer might not stimulate your brain. Try one of the trendy standing desks to get your blood flowing, replace your office chair with an exercise ball, opt for a white or colored desk instead of the traditional black/brown or add colorful desk decorations to get your creative juices flowing!
